A few thoughts from Origins

Just a few thoughts from Origins from my notes - more to follow!

Acts 2 - Pentecostals focus on tongues of fire, Evangelicals focus on all who are called

We miss the mystical middle in the conversation between God and humanity.

Why did Peter draw from Joel?  Luke is extracting the most important part – this would be a movement of dreamers and visionaries.  Does it look like that in the west.  We must move away from being an employment agency for those who love to study.

  • Dreamers and visionaries or Pastors and Teachers.
  • During times of slavery first thing to go are dreams and visions.
  • A great poverty of urban poor is lack of dreams and visions.

We don’t need more organization, but more disorganization.  Cemetary is most organized thing in the world – everyone is in their place.

Life is messy –If the church is an organism it is messy.  We need chaos and movement.

Our role – connecting innovation to the human story.

A movement of dreamers and visionaries – this is plural.  The world doesn’t change at the same time – LA is the capitol of the future world – what is your society?

Spiritual activism – intense, zealous, passionate, engage the culture Vs Popcorn or just add water

Fight for the heart of your spiritual community.
