Balancing Kiwis

And it begins . . . My new foray into blogging in Voxtropolis.  It is good to be on board, and I look forward to the stuff to come!  Just a note on balancing kiwis . . .

Some friends (actually some ex-students of mine) took a trip around the world a year or so ago.  We were one of their stops, and when they came here they gave us a set of “balancing kiwis” from New Zealand.  These are little wooden kiwi shaped thingies that balance in literally hundreds of configurations.  The weird this is that so few kiwis (eight I think) can form so many kiwi sculptures.  It seemed a good name for a blog because:

• The concept is simple - arranging kiwis can be seen as similar to our desire to arrange the areas of life . . . SO many configurations.
• The goal is balance - arrange the kiwis (read life-stuff) in a balanced way whilst having fun and creating wild and wacky formations
• Balancing kiwis are just cool
